Day 9-7/8/17- Lord I Need You

James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

As our voices lifted in song singing "Lord I Need You", we began our journey to Taipei.  A reminder of God's infinite love and power, the song lyrics made me calm down, readjust my perspective on the small bumps in the road, and gain a new appreciation for the countless instances of grace and love during this trip. Despite our best efforts to focus on the children and service, Satan loves to strike when we are doing God's work. These obstacles have been discussed in the previous blogs, from feelings of incompetency, to conflict within groups, to health issues, to selfish desires. It is in these testing moments that we must remember that we are one family, working together to advance God's kingdom and seek his glory. We are to, as James 5:16 says, confess our sins to each other and pray for each other. As the trip nears the end, please pray for healing of the mind, spirit, soul, and body of every member of our collective Taiwan Team, that we may put aside our differences and issues, and focus on fellowship with the Taiwanese youth in the limited time we have left.

As for today's activities, soon thereafter the bus ride, we met up with youth from a Taipei Church. In groups of 4-6 people, we all set out to explore Taipei's specialties. The most memorable stops included a boat trip across a river, seeing the changing of the guards, shopping at various small restaurants, and visiting the one and only Taipei 101.

My group wandered in and out of the little shops, stopping to buy delicacies such as fish crisps and ai ge (fen tiao wrapped in a tofu casing), while other groups explored Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall The day was filled with delicious food and team bonding (as seen below).

We came home super late after a long, fun-filled trip to Taipei, so apologies for the short blog!

Today's excursion was a nice break after the children's english summer camp, although we had already started to miss the kids.  As this missions trip is coming to an end, we hope to make the most out of the little time we have left with the youth and everyone that has made this trip possible.  We thank God for giving us this incredible opportunity to share the gospel and create life-long friendships with our Taiwanese brothers and sisters! It's crazy to think that we'll have to wait another year to go back, but I'm sure God will be working continuously in our lives, preparing us for whatever He has planned for us. A huge thank you to the readers back at home and all of our prayer and financial supporters! This trip would not have been possible without you! I hope this was a blessing to you all, as much as it was for us. Goodbye until next time!

  1. It's great to have your team joining the services to expand His kingdom. Even though there are trial and hardship, we have experienced more abundant grace. As I mentioned to the boy team who stayed at my house, we need to look at the big picture first: you were called to bring the kids to Christ and you have done a great job. May God have the glory. The accompanied contention, hard feeling, regardless of its origin, were permitted by God to expose the immaturity and to help you grow as a team. The bond established with the local team is priceless and have eternal value. Along the process, I truly see each one of you growing as Christian during this short trip. Thank you for including me in the process.
